This past summer it was very hot. When it gets super hot, the dogs don’t eat and Ilana begins to worry. Starting in mid-June we invited Siren, Kraken, Phanty, and Zeus to come into the air conditioning in the day time. Siren immediately figured out how to use the dog door and she’s such a cutie that I decided she can become an inside dog.
Each day, I’d bring Kraken, Phanty, and Zeus inside and each night I’d put them back outside.
Soon Kraken learned how to use the dog door, and he didn’t want to go back to his pen. So, I decided he can stay in the house too!
Medusa, Siren, and Kraken are all littermates, and love each other very much (seriously, they do!). Medusa and Siren were so happy to be reunited! and Kraken was happy he didn’t have to live outside anymore.
The next dog to learn how to use the dog door was Zeus, and it took Phanty around a month. Although I’d love to have these two inside, that would be 16 dogs inside– which is a bit much. With Siren and Kraken permanently moved in we have 14 dogs inside!
Now that the weather is cooler, I’m still brining Phanty and Zeus in during the day, and they happily go back to their outside kennel at night.
