Pet Dogs - StinkyPup Kennel

Pet dogs live inside the StinkyPup stinkymansion. They go on walks through the woods in the morning and evening, and have couch and bed privileges. There’s a waiting list for the outside dogs to come inside.

I wish I could give a 100 stars. If you want to enjoy a hike or dogsledding while also supporting a truly noble cause, definitely visit StinkyPup! There are businesses that use dogs for dogsledding, and then there are people who build a business around caring for the dogs themselves — including those who can no longer work. Stinky Pup is one of the latter. ❤️ Illana, the founder and owner, is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. She cares for 32 dogs, ranging from just 2 to 13 years old, and does so with an incredible amount of love and dedication, regardless of whether they are still working or have reached the age of retirement. Despite that, her tours are remarkably affordable compared with other dogsledding kennels in the Yukon. We spent half a day hiking near beautiful Lake Laberge with the dogs, followed by a meet-and-greet with all the kennel residents. It was such a wonderful experience, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I’ll definitely be back whenever I’m in Whitehorse. 🐾❤️

These are mostly rescue dogs and mushing is a hobby for the business owners. Their dogs recently participated in the Yukon Quest race. The owner talked to our group about the history of dog sledding, different sports you can pursue with dogs, and the ins and outs of caring for a dog team. They brought the dogs to our lodge and set up short rides on sleds. It was cold but kids enjoyed it. I didn't ride because the dogs didn't look happy. One was chained up and really nervous. She was shaking and had her tail between her legs. It didn't feel good to ask them to tow me around. It's an interesting sport and I learned a lot

Had the most wonderful time. Very hospitable despite end of season conditions. The pups were absolutely adorable, and we had fun learning about the dogs and mushing. Was definitely a highlight on our Yukon trip.

We had such an amazing time with Ilana and Greg. They couldn’t have been more hospitable and we really appreciated to the ride to and from Whitehorse. The dogs were amazing and incredibly friendly. We had an awesome time on the dog sledding tour and loved the opportunity to try our hand at mushing. Would highly recommend this experience of a lifetime!
