A rite of spring is new gaps at the bottoms of our fencing. This happens because the metal fence posts get forced out of the ground as the ground freezes. We’re constantly pounding the posts in (after thaw… July) and laying new fencing, logs, etc. at the bottom of the fence where gaps develop. Dogs are very clever at finding these gaps, or at finding a potential gap and digging it out a bit. Snowmonster is an ace at this, and Red is also a champion. Red is so clever that he can escape from the dog yard, then let himself back in again. Pumpkin is less clever and can follow Red out, but not back in again.
