Oh Ilana! You should call me. I will come over and be your handler. I've really not much desire to actually run dogs anymore. But I SO identify with your hook-up...and then your hook encounter. I could deliver you three trained and able dogs TODAY (with harnesses, and a couple of spares so that when they chew them you can keep going without sewing them up right away.)
If you're going to eat brains, make it someone who is smart and NOT a musher.

Piper's nasty chest abscess-stuff was full of rods too. Clindamycin was the antibiotic of choice. Was told that the type of bacteria was generally soil-based and likely from a foxtail. Also is particularly stubborn bacteria so antibiotics would be long-term: 6 months to a year, but sometimes the rest of their life. Almost at 6 months now and hasn't seemed to return...hope this helps. Give me a shout if you want other info.

I came home to find Greg outside with bolt clippers ready to cut the chain around snowball free. I have no idea how he got tangled since he wasn't attached to the chain. It was tied in knots around his midsection. Thankfully he wasn't injured!

Hello,

We would like to introduce ourselves. We are an expanding/new business located on the Richardson Hwy in Salcha. We have been running dogs for over ten years and our main customer base has been the local military community, with some tourism. We catered to couples, families with children, with short guided sled tours. This year we have expanded our business with a Hostel and B&B. Also, we are going to offer half day trips and possibly overnight trips for the more adventurous. We are looking to supplement our kennel with approximately ten additional mid-distance people-friendly dogs.

We are looking for a mutual beneficial relationship with other mushers that may have excess dogs culled from a racing team or recently retired from the racing circuit. We are interested in seasonal leasing or could trade services since we operate a hostel and Bed and Breakfast with cabins, for those of you who have customers or family that may have need for a place to stay.

If this idea interests you and would to discuss it further please contact me.

Sincerely,
Mario Goelker,
Manager, 3 Dog Night

I borrowed Dutchie for one season and she is indeed VERY shy. She worked well as a leader for me, helping to train some young pups I was bringing along. I'm glad she has a comfortable retirement home.

Update: Came home from work today and snowbunny was out of the yard waiting for me. I need to take those boys mushing, but can't for another 7 days due to their neutering.

You should look into a SCiB, Lithium-titanate battery.

"Superb Performance Even at Temperatures as Low as -30C"

They come in 12v and 24v, not sure if they are available yet?
